This is such a good thing to contemplate about as there are so many types and styles and different teachers. If you are new to yoga, try doing something gentle or slow. Even if you are in good shape as we want you to feel comfortable with the names of poses and parts of your body you usually don’t think about. Like the breath, for most of us it just happens, we don’t have to remember to breath. But in our classes that is what we try to focus on and do consciously not automatically. This conscious breathing allows us to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, a place that lets us relax.
