Where were you born/where did you grow up?
I’m a Queens girl!
Do you have any siblings?
I have a sister named Lea Ann who is 13 years older than me. She lives in California, but we are very close. She’s a yogini too 🙂
Any unique family traits you would like to share?
My mom is obsessed with playing games during family get-togethers…cards, word scrambles, crossword puzzles, charades, and even jump roping contests in the living room in the past.
When/how did your yoga journey begin?
I started doing yoga in high school. I took yoga in gym and fell in love! I practiced yoga on and off for several years before coming to BambooMoves. Once I started taking classes at BambooMoves, my practice took off – physically, mentally, and spiritually. I’ve been a consistent BambooMover for almost 4 years.
What made you want to become a yoga teacher?
I think that I wanted to be a yoga teacher for the same reason that I wanted to be a speech-language pathologist. I want to help people. I want to help others find health, joy, and peace in their lives. I know it sounds corny, but I really believe that yoga has the power to change the world. It allows us to be receptive to change; it opens us to a life of compassion and service.
What are some things that people might be surprised to know about you?
I was a biology major at Manhattan College. My senior year I worked in a genetics lab. My job was to study fruit fly testicles.
Describe your perfect day.
Hiking and doing yoga with my husband John
What inspires you?
People who take less conventional paths in life in order to follow their callings
What are your favorite books/movies?
Two of my favorite movies are actually very different from each other – “Gone with the Wind” (I even dressed up as Scarlet O’Hara for Halloween when I was a kid) and “My Cousin Vinny” (It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen that movie, it’s still hysterical).
What kind of music do you like?
I’m a HUGE Adele fan!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m super passionate about saving animals. I now spend a lot of time reading articles and watching YouTube videos about farm animal sanctuaries. I started volunteering at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in upstate NY.
If you were an animal what animal would you be?
I would want to be my parent’s dog Matlock because he gets the royal treatment EVERYDAY…lol!
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I love watching the “Long Island Medium”. I’m always moved by the way in which she heals others by delivering messages from loved ones who have crossed over. I think it might be a little scary but cool to talk to dead people 🙂
