Frequently asked questions

What type of yoga does BambooMoves teach? Will I learn to teach Vinyasa, Hatha & Ashtanga yoga?

BambooMoves teaches Hatha Raja Vinyasa Yoga. Hatha yoga concentrates on our physical health and mental well being through asana (yoga postures). Raja Yoga is the path of self-discipline and sadhana (practice) through the study of Patanjali’s eight limbs of Yoga. This study of the eight limbs is also known as Ashtanga Yoga – “ashta” in Sanskrit means eight and “anga” means limb. Vinyasa is best described as moving consciously with the breath to create union between the body, mind, and the universal self. Vinyasa yoga initiates an awareness that links each action to the next – one breath at a time.

What are the time commitments for Teacher Training?

The training begins on January 11th and concludes on May 17th. This course consists of weekend sessions, with Saturday and Sunday sessions taking place from 7am-5pm. The class will also meet one weekday night from 6-9pm.

Can I become a yoga therapist after completing a yoga teacher training?

Yes, after completing the 200 hour training you can begin taking continuing education courses and workshops to become a yoga therapist. The skills taught in our yoga teacher training will help fine tune your understanding and experience in the field of your interest  The amount of additional training needed will depend on your own personal background and experience.  Each BambooMoves location offers regular workshops and resources to help support your continued growth, knowledge, and experience of the healing attributes of Yoga.

What are the benefits of doing a weekend yoga teacher training course versus an international or immersion course?

Both International and Immersion courses are densely condensed and compacted. For many, this may make students feel overwhelmed and leave you tired throughout the course and potentially burned out by the end of the program.

In comparison, the weekend format provides more time and space to internalize all of the information covered through study, self reflection, and practice. It takes time to create new habits, to cultivate discipline, and to train the body and mind. This format provides you with an opportunity to instill the teachings, to find your voice, and to learn through experience. We feel that the greatest gift we can offer our students is personal growth and transformation.

How much experience do your teachers have?

Our teachers are each 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers and yoga studio owners.  Each teacher has dedicated their life to the path of yoga and conscious living.

Is it difficult to find a job as a yoga teacher once I get my certification?

BambooMoves has four locations to help support participants after receiving their certification.  The Hatha Raja Vinyasa style learned in this course is versatile, authentic, and well-rounded. This allows you to adapt to any studio’s teaching method.  Most graduates have had success finding teaching jobs shortly after the course.

What makes your teacher training a good choice?

Our training is a paradigm for spiritual transformation and personal growth. Rooted in the ancient teachings of Yoga you are immersed in a soul serving experience designed to move you closer to the Self. The Road to Yoga includes a well-rounded, diverse curriculum to provide you with the tools needed to confidently lead others on the path of yoga and wellness. Our training includes an in-depth study of the classical Yoga postures (asanas), chanting, philosophies, anatomy & physiology as well as subtle anatomy, ayurveda, and therapeutics.

The Road to Yoga develops discipline, devotion, and understanding of the ultimate goal of the practice: liberation.

With a BambooMoves Yoga Certification, am I able to teach hot yoga?

Getting a certification in a specific type of yoga, like vinyasa, will open the door to more teaching opportunities. Many hot yoga studios have a specific method associated with their own studio. After our teacher training, you may bring your vinyasa or hatha background to a hot yoga studio and then adapt to their method of teaching.

The training is ideal for both dedicated practitioners and those who wish to teach yoga.  The training will be a sphere of study and discovery.
