    About the course

Join BambooMoves to dig deeper into speciality yoga topics with our 40-hour course The Path to Wisdom. Take advantage of this opportunity for self-study and professional development and fulfill Yoga Alliance continuing education requirements.

    Course philosophy

All the great texts introduce us to seeing in ways to create opportunities for us to recognize ourselves. The great texts lead us to look within; that is when we come to recognize ourselves.

It is generally accepted that the Yoga Sutras is the “go to” text. The class will participate in a reading in the round of the complete Sutras followed by discussion. We will also examine The Upanishads, a universal text as relevant to the world today as it was to India five thousand years ago. The Vedas, India’s scriptures, look outward in reverence and awe of the phenomenal world. The Upanishads look inward, finding the powers of nature only an expression of the more awe-inspiring powers of human consciousness.

In addition, each student will chose a chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, to read aloud, comparing translations and facilitating a discussion of the reading for five minutes.

    Frequently asked questions

Do your specialized courses fulfill Yoga Alliance continuing education (CE) requirements?

Yes. When you take one of the BambooMoves continuing education courses, your time counts towards any required continuing education hours.

Can I take a workshop or course even if I am not a yoga teacher or seeking CE credits?

We welcome anyone to join us for any of our specialized courses. Students of all experience levels have found great benefit in our continuing education classes; many students join us for courses merely because they are interested in the subject matter–not because they are teachers or must fill continuing education requirements.

Should I take a specialized course to prepare me for teacher training?

While there is no requirement that students preparing for BambooMoves teacher training enroll in any of our specialized courses, some students do find the courses to be a useful tune-up before teacher training begins.

What type of yoga does BambooMoves teach? Will I learn to teach Vinyasa, Hatha & Ashtanga yoga?

BambooMoves teaches Hatha Raja Vinyasa Yoga. Hatha yoga concentrates on our physical health and mental well being through asana (yoga postures). Raja Yoga is the path of self-discipline and sadhana (practice) through the study of Patanjali’s eight limbs of Yoga. This study of the eight limbs is also known as Ashtanga Yoga – “ashta” in Sanskrit means eight and “anga” means limb. Vinyasa is best described as moving consciously with the breath to create union between the body, mind, and the universal self. Vinyasa yoga initiates an awareness that links each action to the next – one breath at a time.
